Northern Ireland competitors hosted at Scott's

On April 22, 2010 Gordon (PC) and Susan Scott and George (PC) and Nancy Morrow hosted the 14 competitors and adult chaperones from Northern Ireland to a dinner at the Scotts. The award-winning competitors ranged from 11-year-old Emma Barr, 2007 Junior European Drum Major Champion to Brian Wilson, two times World Champion Drum Major (2004 and 2008) and 2009 Champion of Champion as well as a long list of national championships. Emma’s brother Scott (13) is All Ireland Solo Piper Champion. For five of the competitors this marked their first trip to our Games. Proud parents accompanying the group included Jackie Barr, Valeria Hamilton, Mervyn Sleeth. The group had spent the last two years raising funds, bake sales and all that for their trip.

After a busy day of practice and a bit of shopping the group enjoyed a good old fashioned Italian meal (yes Italian, with Gordon and Nancy what would you expect) and good company. A couple of them even tried the swimming pool, which we Sacramentens thought was way too cold. They were also presented with hospitality/memory gifts from the Caledonian Fund and the St. Andrews Society for which they expressed their great thanks and appreciation.
